Achille Rumi created the family foundry in 1914 at Bergamo in Italy. Originally specialized in bronze and aluminum cast, the company used to work for the Rail Company, the navy and the air force, that’s why there are an anchor and a plane wing on the brand logo. Then in 1949 was created the first Rumi motorcycle designed around a surprising horizontal air-cooled engine. The 125 Sport arrived in 1953, it was a great and fast motorcycle with its 2-stroke twin cylinder engine, it developed 7,2 horsepower at 6500 rpm and was associated with a 4-speed gearbox for a total weight of only 95 kg. Even if such power is not so impressive nowadays, it used to be very good by the 50s, with 100 km/h top speed and an angry temper, this Rumi was more efficient than many 250cc !
This Rumi 125 Sport was delivered in 1954, it holds chassis number 13693 and is registered in France. In original condition, its patina is wonderful and this sport motorcycle from the 50s would be perfect for historic races!
