In 1998, Maserati presented its new sports coupe: 3200 GT, created by the Italdesign style office of Giogetto Giugiaro to which the trident brand had already entrusted the design of the Ghibli, Bora and Merak models. The 3200 GT is the first model to be fully studied and developed after the takeover of the manufacturer by the Fiat Group.

This is the first Maserati to receive a Ferrari engine, it inherits the volcanic 4244cc V8 of the Modena developing 390 horsepower, also installed a year earlier on the Maserati Spyder. The car is going to be a dazzling success.

To mark the occasion, Maserati decided to relaunch competition with a much more refined and developed model to take part in the famous 24 Hours of Daytona. This authentic Gt of competition at a price place several times in the championship in the hands of a gentleman driver who wanted a different car from the others and decides the veil of pink, this car has never had a serious accident and is in perfect working order. ; it has remained to this day with its war paint in a collection of a private amateur. Now eligible for the most prestigious events on the historical calendar, this Maserati Trofeo is an entry ticket to Daytona Classic but also to the dedicated Master Endurance Legends. to prototypes and GTs from 1995 to 2011.
